Duke Field Hockey started their preseason in August 2015 gearing up for a big year ahead. The season opener was across the country in California against Stanford and Berkley. The 2015 blue devil squad competed in one of the most difficult competition schedules in the country helping them consistently secure a top five spot in the RPI weekly rankings. This consistent ranking made it no surprise that the Duke field hockey team would earn themselves a spot in the NCAA tournament. One week before they received their bid, they suffered a 5-1 loss against the Virginia Cavaliers in the ACC tournament. This would not be the last time the blue devils would face off against the Cavs. In the first round of the NCAA tournament, the Duke Blue Devils defeated the Stanford Card 2-1 in sudden death overtime and advanced to the elite eight. Their competition would be a familiar opponent, the Virginia Cavaliers. The Blue Devils came back for revenge and defeated the Cavaliers 2-1 and were headed to the Final Four. The Final Four was held in Michigan and was an amazing experience for the young woman. Unfortunately, the blue devils came up short losing 2-0 to UNC in the semi-finals. Nevertheless, the Blue Devils will be back in 2016 fighting for the National Championship title.
